Beach and East Toronto Historical Society hosts heritage talks at Beaches Branch Library

Gene Domagala will speak on Mayors of Toronto 1834 to 1974 at the Beaches Branch Library on Dec. 11. The talk is presented by the Beach and East Toronto Historical Society.

The Beach and East Toronto Historical Society and the Toronto Public Library are holding two free to attend events at the Beaches Branch Library on 2161 Queen St. E

On Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 7 to 8:15 p.m., historian and Beach Metro News columnist Gene Domagala will be talking about the Mayors of Toronto from 1834 to 1974.

The talk will feature information on a number of past Toronto mayors including William Lyon Mackenzie, James “Jimmie” Simpson, William Wesley (Bill) Hiltz, and Donald Dean Summerville.

On Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, historian and author Joanne Doucette will be talking about The Kingston Road Tramway 1872 – 1885 from 7 to 8:15 p.m.

Those attending can learn about the old tramway/streetcar system at this talk.
