by Melinda Drake Beaches/East York MPP Michael Prue sailed to an easy victory in Thursday's provincial election, defeating his nearest challenger, Liberal Monica Purdy, by a 2 to 1 margin. PC candidate Angela Kennedy finished third, with the Green Party's Tom Mason rounding out the ballot. Progressive Conservative incumbent Dan Newman, who represented Scarborough Southwest for over eight years, fell victim to the anti-PC sentiment which swept across Ontario, and saw his seat taken away by Liberal Lorenzo Berardinetti. NDP candidate Barbara Warner finished third, followed by Andrew Strachan of the Green Party, and Family Coalition candidate Ray Scott.
