Barbara Sutherland is opening her beautiful studio on the Bluffs for her annual show and sale Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sutherland will be exhibiting three new series of works, one inspired by her travels through Scotland in May, which included a stop on the fabled island of Islay, home to some of the finest scotches on Earth.
Another series comes out of her summer cruises through Lake Huron’s North Channel, a place she calls, “the best cruising grounds in Canada!”
The third series is a continuation of the one inspired by her friend and mentor, Doris McCarthy’s home, Fool’s Paradise. Sutherland’s studio, at 1 Ledge Rd., is perched on the side of a hill overlooking the Bluffs below and Lake Ontario beyond. It is an inspiring space, and will be even more so filled as it will be by Sutherland’s oils and watercolours.
